Progressive Enhancement
Published Thursday 16th of December 2010
I recently recieved a rather amusing e-mail from one of my visitors. Apparently this person, who calls himself "Jamie", doesn't know what progressive enhancement is all about.
Here's what he wrote:
You should take some classes.
A good web developer would never have an ugly page which displays "Your browser doesn't support the modern CSS used on this web page, therefore it is served with the universal IE6 stylesheet. For a richer browsing experience, please consider upgrading to a better, modern browser."
I can't believe people like you still exist post "web 2.0"! So much for user experience. I happen to use and love firefox but was searching for/testing in IE.
You're in ability/laziness to design for all browsers shows that you obviously don't take your site very seriously and thus, I can't take you seriously.
You and your site look disgraceful.
So this post is for Jamie and everyone else who still believes that all pages need to look the same in all browsers.

Some New jQuery Plug-ins
Published Thursday 30th of September 2010
Since I'm back at work that means I'm also back at writing jQuery plug-ins.
I've added a couple new to the jQuery page today. More will be added shortly.

Yawn
Published Thursday 16th of September 2010
I'm back at work. Which means I'm tired every day and can't be arsed to do much.
I've written a couple new jQuery plug-ins though which I will upload to the jQuery page shortly.
I've also begun work on a "lite" version of aFramework. We'll see how that goes.

Euphoria is Wicked
Published Friday 23rd of July 2010
Part of the reason I've been so quiet lately is because I've been catching up with all the brilliant video games I've missed on the trip.
I have to say that Red Dead Redemption is at the top of the list. Much thanks to its use of the wonderful Euphoria engine.
I reckon Euphoria is the future of games. I'd love to see a "the Hulk"-game using Euphoria and Red Faction's destructible environments. That would be awesome!
Imagine Skate with Euphoria! Mmm...

Project52
Published Friday 25th of June 2010
Since coming home I've completely neglected the blog and hence failed Project52.
I don't mind too much though as it seems not even the author cares that much.
I've definitely not given up on the blog but I've had so much stuff to take care of (and so many new games to play! :) that I just haven't found the time.
Today's midsummer ("midsommar") so we are going out drinking and BBQ:ing.

The Real Life, Female, David Brent
Published Saturday 5th of June 2010
I just randomly watched the end of the "Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency".

She must be the most embarrasing thing on telly right now. At least in Sweden.

Back in Sweden
Published Sunday 30th of May 2010
After 8 months in South East Asia me and Agnes came back to Sweden on Friday.
It's definitely with mixed feelings (it's bloody freezing still!) but it's nice to see everybody and I got to play Skate 3 today so it's not all bad :)
Will write more soon.

The trip is almost over and I've lost motivation to do much of anything, hence the slow updates on here lately.
Here's a really photo heavy post showing what we've been up to lately.

Variations of Snake
Published Monday 3rd of May 2010
Tonight (16/4) I had yet another snake experience as I had Stir Fried Snake Curry and Snake Springrolls.

TBH I could hardly taste the snake. Could have been any meat really. The curry was nice.

Sleek/aFramework and Drupal
Published Monday 26th of April 2010
I've never really checked out Drupal properly before (or any other framework for that matter) but tonight (16/4) I spent a few hours reading the docs.

It's almost scary how many things are similar, and in some cases completely identical, to aFramework/Sleek.

aFramework 4.0 a.k.a. SleekPHP
Published Wednesday 21st of April 2010
As usual when I've finished building 5 or 6 sites and ~80 modules for one version of aFramework I want to start the next, non-backwards-compatible, version of it :P

This year is no different and I've begun development on aFramework 4.0 or Sleek 0.1.

How to Build an aFramework Module
Published Friday 16th of April 2010
As a follow up to "How aFramework Works" I thought I'd explain how to build your own modules for aFramework.
It's actually very simple. Of course you'll need to know the languages you'll be writing but I assume you do. The simplest modules consist of nothing but HTML.

How aFramework Works
Published Saturday 10th of April 2010
aFramework is my home made PHP web dev framework that I run almost all my projects on.
Today I thought I'd exaplain how aFramework goes from a requested URL to a rendered page.

New aFramework Site; aBugTracker, along with bugtracker.a-framework.org
Published Monday 29th of March 2010
My old todo.txt was seriously starting to get out of hand so I decided it was time I structure all my tasks for all my projects in a little more organized manner.

I've also been wanting to show the public what's in store for aFramework (and its sister sites) for some time now and with the new bugtracker.a-framework.org I've done just that.
I don't really work in sprints but I thought it was fun to build the sprint backlog thingy anyway so I did.
It's also pretty nice to quickly get an overlook of the tasks I should be focusing on atm.
I'm sure most people have no use for a bug tracker but I was so fed up with that old txt-file I just had to do something about it :P

New jQuery Plug-in; Slide Presentation
Published Monday 22nd of March 2010
I'm trying to put together a little intro/demo for aFramework so I built this slide plug-in for jQuery.
Ultimately I didn't feel it was what I was after with the aFramework intro but perhaps someone will find it useful.
Run it on a container of a list of images with text and the plugin will slide through all the images, stopping on each to display all the paragraphs of text.
The HTML needs to be:
div: container
ul
li: the first step in the slide
img: the image to be displayed in this step
p: first paragraph of text to be displayed
p: second paragraph of text...
li: the first step in the slide
img: the image to be displayed in this step
p: first paragraph of text to be displayed
p: second paragraph of text...
li: the first step in the slide
img: the image to be displayed in this step
p: first paragraph of text to be displayed
p: second paragraph of text...And then simply run the plugin on the container and it'll do the rest. You can override the default width/height settings, their styling is only on a single class (.jquery-slide-presentation) so target your container's ID instead and you're gtg.

aFramework 3.2
Published Monday 15th of March 2010
Last week I put the latest version of aFramework up for download on the official site.
So What's New?
Well as usual there's been plenty of bug fixes, optimizations, tweaks and enhancements but to mention some of the bigger stuff...

An Even Newer OurFuture.eu
Published Wednesday 10th of March 2010
OurFuture.eu initially asked for two different suggestions for the new design and I recently finished nr 2.

All the functionality is the same, and most module-styling is identical (both the new design and the old grassy one extends "base-ole" - only the framing is different.

We're Back on Koh Lipe :)
Published Saturday 6th of March 2010
Wednesday we left Langkawi, Malaysia to go back to Thailand. More specifically the paradise island Koh Lipe.

It's really nice to be back actually. Not that Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore are bad, but it almost feels like coming home coming here.

New OurFuture.eu - Running on aFramework
Published Monday 22nd of February 2010
I've mentioned before that I've been semi-busy (I still find time to snorkel :) with freelance.

A few days ago we went live with the new site (OurFuture.eu) and I'm pleased with how it all worked out.

Sidkritik.se - Få konstruktiv kritik på din hemsida
Published Monday 15th of February 2010
Många forum har en avdelning för kritik på hemsidor och de är ofta rätt aktiva. Jag har däremot aldrig sett en sida helt dedikerad till just hemsiderecensioner så jag bestämde mig för att bygga en.

Chinese New Year in Kuala Lumpur
Published Thursday 11th of February 2010
We've now left Indo and are back in KL, Malaysia. In a few days we'll be heading to Singapore, but before that we're gonna celebrate the Chinese New Year here in KL.
I've got a Swedish mate over in Singapore so we'll stay for free. Which is good because from what I hear Singapore is ridiculously expensive!
One thing that isn't though is electronics and I intend to pick up all the PS3-titles I've missed in the last 6 or so months. There's quite a few of them! :)
Here's a list of the ones I'm interested in. I've probably missed a few, please let me know!

More specifically Pulau Weh. I was here in 2003 and it's still as beautiful today.

I've Switched Domain Provider
Published Wednesday 20th of January 2010
You may notice the site's been down a few weeks. The reason is I've switched domain providers.
I've used one.com for ages and have been happy with them. But a few months back me and a couple of mates got our own Ubuntu server and ever since I've been running most of my projects off that.Since I'm no longer in need of an actual server and since one.com do not offer only a domain (you have to get space on there as well) I decided to switch to Loopia.
Loopia's cheaper, allows me to only keep my domains on it and has a better admin so I'm going to start using it full time. We're still in Malaysia btw but tommorrow we're taking a ferry to Medan, Indonesia.
This downtime has unfortunately already made me fail project 52. I intend to post a few articles (this one included) in the past to make up for it though :)
Just thought I'd keep you posted!

We're in Malaysia!
Published Monday 11th of January 2010
About a week ago we left Koh Lipe and Thailand to go to Malaysia. We only had a 3 month visa for Thailand so we had to leave.

We're in KL at the time of writing, but we'll probably be in Pengang when you read this.
Malaysia is nice but pretty expensive compared to Thailand so we'll probably head to Sumatra, Indonesia in a week or so. I've been there once before and it was dirt cheap!
Till next time!

Project52
Published Wednesday 6th of January 2010
Because I'm so rubbish at writing stuff on here I've decided to sign up to Project52.Project52 is a personal challenge geared toward getting fresh content on your website. The goal is to write at least 1 new article per week for 1 year. Because we all know what it‘s like to procrastinate on our content. A website is not just a fresh design that can be uploaded to the web and forgotten about!
So wish me luck! Oh and you should sign up too! :)
